COMMERCIAL PROJECT

 

Scentsational Cottage want an advert that they can use of Facebook, Instagram and TicTok etc to promote the brand. The brief for the the advert is that it has to try and achieve the following.

  1. Promote what the brand makes

  2. Promote the website

  3. Promote the shop

  4. Keep it up beat, bold, happy and inviting


Scentsational Cottage gave some examples they have seen on the type of advert they want to emulate. This helped give us a clear direction and far more clarity when it comes to designing the advert. The next step is to find music. Different adverts rely on music in different ways, this was important as most of the cuts used in the edit relied heavily on this. We submitted some samples for Scentsational Cottage to hear and they picked the one they loved.

Concept

With the music chosen and the style set, we started to create the 60 second advert. We looked at the what products Scentsational Cottage wanted to feature most and used these as the base for the advert. Because this first draft was more a concept to make sure we was on the right track, images was used from Scentsational Cottage and footage that was previously shot of the shop.

First Draft

With the concept approved we had some additional products that needed to be in the advert, these needed to be photographed on a clean white back ground and incorporated into the advert. The editing and timing of the advert was altered to make sure viewers had enough time to read the on screen text while remaining consistent with the beat of the music.

Final Draft

Last but not least, for the final revision Scentsational Cottage wanted to promote that they are helping local charity called “PIF (Pay It Forward” and “Boomerang”. This required one more photo shoot of the product that supports the charity and an inclusion of the charities logo at the end.

COMPLETED WORK

From shoot to final delivery took 1 week and we delivered 4 videos. The main advert had two potential endings and for each of these we delivered a version that was reformatted and edited to be displayed correctly on Instagram and TicTok. The reason for the quick turnaround was from the excellent engagement we had with Scentsational Cottage, most of the footage had already been shot and only required some products to be photographed. This commercial became more about the style, music and editing to bring everything together.
